C/2012 F6 Lemmon looks promising.

Hi,

Imaged comet Lemmon last night, it was only 10 degrees above the horizon in centaurus when imaged.

Certainly looks promising.

Here's a link to Michael Mattiazzo's southern comets page with more detail.
http://members.westnet.com.au/mmatti/sc.htm

Equipment.

Skywatcher ED80, orion mini guider, orion field flattener, HEQ pro 5 mount.
Unmodded canon 1100D, 2 minute subs at iso 800, total 8 minutes.
Darks applied.
Stacked in DSS and processed in PS7.

Cheers,

Justin.

Nice capture Justin. I heard you have two discoveries of your own??

Pity about the two big comets of this year not being favourable for us. Panstaars might be ok but quite low. And the comet discovered by ISON is going to be a real star apparently. I guess we had last years comet, so we cannot complain too much.

Good shot Justin.

Should be an even better target when the Moon clears.

Yep two comets, C/1997 O1 and C/1999 A1, seems like along time ago now.
We were very lucky with comet Lovejoy, last year. Still there's a few with potential, it's been rather quite comet wise since march last year.

Yes, we could be in for a treat with lemmon.

Cheers,

Justin.
