Moon Mosaic, 18th May, 2006

This Mosaic is a full one covering all the lit side of the moon. It was made up with 15 images that were processed with registax from 15 seperate AVI's of 300 frames. 15fps @ 20seconds each.

Final sharpening in Paint shop pro 9, No contrast enhancement.

Very well done, you're making great progress.

I'd hestitate against using 15fps though - there's a lot of compression at that framerate and the raw data is suffering before you've even touched it.

Careful Andrew. The Mosaic Bug can cause you all sorts of frustrations once you get bitten. It's almost as maddening as The Animation Bug.

Very nice mosaic though mate. I'd agree with Mike about the frame rate. You might also want to consider only doing your sharpening with the wavelets in Registax. You will have much finer control over it there, the Paintshop Pro seems to have put a hard edge to your image and the sharpening doesn't seem to be even over the whole mosaic.

If you want to be a real glutton for punishment, whack a barlow in and get some hires ones (about 40 or so ) and stick 'em together. Check out the image at the bottom of the page here. About the same area of moon as you have covered but leading up to the full moon.

I am actually still waiting for my Barlow to come in so when it does watch out . I didnt do the wavelets in registax mainly because I didnt want the seperate images to look different to one another. Not sure how the waveletes work out the final images, so best left alone till I get a feel for it.

Like your image very well constructed. I will give the 10fps or 5 fps a go, but being jerky on the lappy and hand guiding makes the process more complex, can't wait for the EQ6 to arrive Then I can dial up the power using the 8" f7 with the 3x barlow

Hand guided That bumps the impressiveness up a level. Haveyou tried save your wavelets so that you can apply them to successive images?
