Scammers on IIS Classifieds.

Just a warning, it appears that scammers have discovered the IIS classies.

I have had a few email responses to my "Wanted" ads, and all have been Nigerian scammers claiming to be in 'The UK'.

So just a warning if you post a wanted ad, make sure you check out the replies and direct emails carefully! The mods here have been great at removing any scammer replies from the threads.

I've posted a few Wanted ads on astrobuysell before and they always attract scammers so I don't use it any more.

I would only buy from someone that had a good number of genuine posts on IIS.

Yes,I had one a good while ago,on a wanted item,that I posted a very long time ago-they said U.K too.

So they must be really trawling the wanted section from quite some time ago.The reply certainly did not seem right, and only one post-which usually sets the scene.Although, one post does not always mean 'dodgy'-I did sell some rosewood awhile ago,and the chap joined just to PM me-we exchanged phone numbers and did the deal-the mods do a good job cleaning up vermin in the classifieds here.

One thing I've learned,is always exchange phone numbers,I've always done that-except once, and came unstuck.

It's becoming a real pain. I don't know if Mike can check the IPs of these guys but ABS UK has blocked anyone from Spain joining up because that's where they are originating. Maybe they have moved on elsewhere.

It's a shame and it's real damaging to the honest buyers/sellers out there.

Its sad that we get scammers trying to ruin the trust we have for one and other! its getting past the point of insanity.

I say Mike should get the scammers IP addresses, and publish them here. Im sure someone in our community would like to send an e-bomb to them

It's nothing to be concerned about.

It was a brand new user who responded to the wanted ad. They were already banned before Peter contacted me, but I had forgotten to delete the posts by the user.

If you take the usual precautions whether you're buying or selling, then your chances of getting scammed are extremely small.
