Apogee F16M D09 CCD camera with Apogee FW50-7S filter wheel

I’ve rekindled my interest in visual observing using a 10” dob thus have not done any imaging for some time. I’m therefore selling various gear that I’ve accumulated over the years.

Up for sale is the Apogee F16M with D09 cooling package. Formally known as the U16M, the F16M is the latest to come from Apogee Imaging Systems introducing new electronics that amongst other things support super fast readout and download times. The KAF-16803 large format CCD remains the chip of choice amongst the leaders in astro imaging. The camera has came back from a complete servicing and upgrade in December 2012 and has been left in the shipping box since. Servicing report highlighting test specifications will be supplied with the camera purchase. I’ve never been able to fault this camera, low noise, clean calibration frames and solid cooling even with the fickle hot Victorian weather this camera easily got down to -35c with more cooling power in reserve should I have wanted to push it harder.

Included in this sale is the Apogee FW50-7S filter wheel. As the model number suggests, it supports 7 x 50mm square filters in its carousel. This fits in front of the F16M taking up minimal amount of back focus. The filter wheel is fitted with a set of Astrodon Series II filters – Luminance, Red, Green and Blue. For narrowband aficionados, a 5nm Ha, 3nm OIII and 3nm SII filters are also fitted – 3nm filters are not cheap due to the manufacturing tolerances. The 3nm filters are perfect in extracting the super faint wisps of nebulosity on a low ADU background. Be prepared to go long with sub exposures however. The Astrodon Series II filters are a perfect match for the KAF-16803 making RGB G2V very easy to achieve for aesthetic true colour images.

Kit includes;
Apogee F16M CCD camera with D09 cooling
Apogee FW50-7S filter wheel
Astrodon Series II filters (L,R,G,B,Ha,OIII,SII) already fitted to wheel
Astrodon Apogee filter wheel 3” to AP 2.7” male to male adapter
2 x 5m USB 2.0 cables – ideal size for through mount cabling
2 x 12vDC power supplies
Service test report on camera
Integration starter kit CD

$11,800 (includes postage within AU)

WITHDRAWN: No takers. Will likely use the camera when I get back into collecting data again.

Questions by PM please.

Added value

If you are looking to use the Apogee F16M on a long focal length set up or have troubles with flexure using a separate guidescope, I'm prepared to package an Astrodon MMOAG (Offaxis Guider), SBIG ST-402ME (NABG CCD guider) and all the needed fittings to mount to the Apogee filter wheel for $550 (includes shipping) - bargain! This would allow you to have a 'turn key' imaging train ready to start imaging. This offer is only available if purchased exclusively with the Apogee F16M.
