How?

Hi Derek..

That is a beautiful photo.
I just want to ask how did you get it in such detail and with that colour?

I Have a Lunt 80mm Double stacked with b1800 filter and i cant get good pics for the life of me.....

Photos turn out pink with very little detail.
I have just recently bought an Orion Deep space imager pro V2, and a Meade monochrome camera.....to try andget nice pics....

What camera did you use to get his amazing photo?

Thanks

johnny

Hi Derek
Nice one! I saw this filament very briefly this morning before cloud rolled in. I'm hoping it clears this afternoon to see how it has changed.

What you need is a mono camera, and then you colourise the pics later.

I think Derek uses a GSTAR-EX mono camera (could be wrong!) , others use the point grey grasshopper or similar cameras like the DMK41.

Like planetary, many people capture a mono video file and then stack the results to get those images you see posted here.

The Ha light doesn't work very well at all with a colour camera.

Peter is correct. You need a mono camera then you colour the pic in photoshop or another similar program. You may also want to check out the solarchat website as there are lots of tutorials there on solar image processing.
Cheers Derek
