C8 utilisation idea

Ok so I bought an old style (original US I think) Super C8. Comes with the Greg byers worm gears and the fork mount.
I still have my old old LX 90 8" base and tripod with the GPS etc-I sold the scope.
Is there any reason why I can't find a way to mount the C8 on the old Meade base if mechanically I can attach and align? As long as the tube will fit of course.
I know an engineering type who could machine fixings for me, and from what I remember of the Meade, when aligning it was basically point north, level the tube then find some calibration stars.
Can this be attempted?
Would make an old C8 a gps go to scope!
Objections anyone?
ummmm

Graham, a couple of adaptor plates should do it. The mount doesn't know or care which OTA is hanging off it.
Just make sure everything will swing clear through the forks when mounted.
I just recently deforked my Orange tube C8 and mounted it on an iOptron Mini Tower. A new lease of life for those excellent old optics!!

Go for it.

Michael.
