more on exploradome

cant find the original thread but there are now some actual photos of this dome http://www.exploradome.us/

maybe one day they will have the shutters on it and we will see how it really works

I think it's a great idea, cheapish in price and lightweight.
Living where I do though, my biggest concern with it would be bushfires. While you would obviously keep the area close to the observatory clear from scrub, I think that embers landing on it could start a melt down.
But for a backyard job it would be ideal.

I have enquired about it, a dome only is $4000 here and then you have to make a skirt to suit for a shed. that would be just the ticket, dome and skirt for $650US plus delivery (maybe $500US) so for under $2500 Aus all you have to add are some colourbond walls and a door and slab and a frame. so domed observatory for under $4000 complete! looks to be the ticket, just have to get the approval from my wife for the pimple in the backyard Speculative prices have been used
