What was that!

Hi All,

Tonight I was out taking some shots when out of the corner of my eye I saw a bright "star like" object. I turned to look at it and within a second or two, it faded to nothing.
This happened at 6:30 PM Australian WST and was about a fist width (at arms length) south east of the LMC.
Did anyone else see this and any sugestions as to what it could be?

thanks
Josh

It was either a meteor coming at you head on or an Iridium Flare.
If you go to http://www.heavens-above.com/ sign up, log in, plug in your co ordinates, go to the section on Satellites and it has a section on Iridium Flares. You can even bring up Flares from the previous 48hrs.

Let us know how you go.

Thanks JJJnetie,

I logged into HA, and there didnt seem to be an Iridium Flare at that time, so i guess it could have been a metior, but i will keep checking it. Thankyou.
