NGC 6188, full frame.

Hi,

This is an image of NGC 6188 from earlier this year, I've been working on it for quite a while trying to improve the whole image. I think it's to a stage where it's worth posting.

I was trying to think what this region of sky, with it's dark fingers of nebulosity reminded me of. To me it looks like Michael Angelo's Adam, fingers touching.

Think I'll describe it this way from now on, something so spectacular needs a name instead of a catalogue number.

Telescope 8” f/4 astrograph on a HEQ Pro 5 mount, orion mini guider.
Unmodded Canon 1100D at ISO 800.
13 x 300 sec subs ISO 800.
11 dark frames, 9 flat frames and 9 bias.
Stacked in DSS and post process in Phototshop.
Cheers,

Justin.

Hi Justin,
Nice image! It is a little black clipped in the background but I really enjoy the nebulosity regions which are great!

Thanks Lucas,

Yep black clipped, deliberate this time, trying to bring up the contrast between the nebulosity and background.

Cheers,

Justin.

Very cool, nearly the same framing as the one I am waiting to process has. Nice to have a reference.
