Eta - Narrow Band

Hi Guys,

I though I would re-visit Eta, but this time in narrow band. Seems to be the flavour of the month

This is a Hubble Palette using HA as luminance.
(2:2:2:2) Hours, 10 min subs

Processed in PI.

Eta Tri-Colour Large

Thanks for Looking!

Mark

Interesting, it looks like it's being illuminated by the warm light from a star to the bottom left

It goes without saying there's loads of detail in the nebulosity.

I find it odd/distracting that the background darkens immediately adjacent to the nebula before increasing in brightness again towards the periphery. I would normally see this when over-doing the unsharp masking. Or is this a true representation where extra exposure details has been picked up in the periphery?

Thanks Roger,

Not sure why that is, but i have not used any sharpening or noise reduction in this image.

I may have to look at my background in the original frames to see if uts me

Cheers

I really like the way u have done this Has a nice 3d depth too it. My only fault is the small size of the presentation - doesn't do it justice even on the original setting.

Loads of data, with great detail. Personaly not enamoured by the colour. There is too much cyan in the image, which is affect the way the image looks. Might I suggest you use Ken Crawford's tutorial on narrow band with Hubble palette. It will present a better presentation of the data.

There should not be much noise in the back ground because this object does not need much stretching to bring out the data. Its brightness is really good and that gives good ADU right from very short subs.

Thanks Paul,

Thanks.
I founds Ken's tutorial useful, but processing in NB is so subjective and every result brings out a different look of the image.
By combining the channels according to the Hubble palette can achieve many other interesting results.
The traditional Hubble one is the obvious one but personally I am not a fan.
Trying something different in this respect was my aim.

Cheers
