One of my workmates had a collision with a bird at around 120kph, pulled over around 150km later,thought he would check the radiator out, and there he was ,all bright eyed,little bit disheveled,but nonetheless chirpy,didn't say thanks or anything ,just flew off with whatever feathers he had left !
I had a related experience a few years ago.
I was taking a load of tree trimmings to the dump.
I slowed and swerved to miss a Sacred Kingfisher sitting on the road. I assumed it would fly off.
It sat there oblivious to my ute going past.
I went back and picked it up. It was half out of this world. Possibly a car strke.
I eventually took it home. Where it started to peck my hand. This was good. With a little more time it chirped and became more active.
I placed its beak under a dripping tap. It seemed to like that. It drank.
An hour later it wanted out of the cage.
I released it. It flew to a nearby tree. Sat half a minute as if to get its bearings and off it flew.
I felt good that it seemed to have recovered. It was quite a pretty little bird.
