Xmas Tree Widefield

Here's my other shot from the only clear night we had last week.

The cone nebula. Same lens (150mm) and QHY9. No death ray from the moon on this one.

It looks a bit like an M42/M16 flower shape, although very very faint.
This is 40x300s so over 3h. Maybe I can get more tomorrow night, offset and get the Rosette to do a two panel mosaic. Fingers crossed.

Bigger one here and a plate solve here.

Thanks for looking.

Lovely, wide view, Marc! What did you use to do the plate solve?

Cheers,
Rick.

Thanks Peter. I was hoping to complete tonight but the forecast went south unfortunately. Maybe end of the week now.

I could look at plate solves all day.
Just on that, everyone should give unimap a go, and give feedback, it would be worth helping to improve what is a great piece of free software that can be compiled to run on almost anything, Windows/OSX/Linux etc.

Thanks mate. LP + rain = Fat chance for color. Way too faint as well. Getting this area would be long term project from very dark skies. Maybe next drought.

Thanks Allan. Yeah there's a lot of known objects around this field. It was interesting to see how it all fits in.
