Running Man Nebula - GSO RC8

Hello all,
Got sick of bloody reflection testing, so I tried out the scope on the Running Man Nebula in order to stop testing and start imaging.

Not too bad, but still needs work/technical tweaking - I can see the potential in the scope.

Scope: GSO RC8 (+ Astrotech Flattener) FL=1624mm, f8
Camera: Astro 40D (average temp -11ºC)
12 x 10min exposures, iso1600 (No Darks/Flats)

High Res...

Anyway - still having fun!

Happy Xmas all...
Doug

Running man

Nice work Doug.

You should try and put a Xmas hat on top and called it the Xmas Nebula

Seriously! Fantastic image...are you moving away from Wide field?

Regards Paul.

Looking good Doug, some nice detail and colours there.

It's good to image rather than trouble shoot huh?

Thanks Paul - moving away from widefield...to a degree, with the AP reducer the RC8 operates at f5.3 FL=1088mm. Many here would class that as widefield! Thought I needed a challenge of late - the RC8 on a HEQ5 Pro certainly provides that!!

Thankyou Sir - and Absolutely! I can see glaring flaws in this image but that's the nature of the beast! We tweak, tweak and tweak again until we get images that bake our cakes!

Great image Doug - Christmas present for perseverance.

Look forward to the M42 with the reducer for the wide field version.

Go those cooled 40Ds.
