Wikisky

The following wikisky.org images show 125 galaxies brighter than magnitude 10.
Most images have a 28' field. Some are wider.

The attached list contains 125 galaxies brighter than magnitude 10.
In the table SB is surface brightness and the season is for the southern hemisphere at 10pm (11pm DST).
It is based on Dr. Wolfgang Steinicke's work.

Eight galaxies in the table are north of dec +60.

Open Clusters

Open clusters do not show up well on wikisky. You will see some in the ASMC. Most images have a 56' field.

Glen,

Thanks for organising such a fantastic collection of galleries.
Great for either previewing a particular object or just to have a browse of some of the best objects in the sky.

Regards, Rob

Diameter

Thanks Rob. I find diameters in the lists are not always reliable.
Images with the same field give a better idea, especially with PN.

I get up during the night and observe if its clear, then go back to bed after a few hours. It was cloudy last night so I made a collection of galaxy images.

Data

The attached pdf file gives data for most of the NGC objects in this thread.
It lists 422 NGC objects - all the NGC globular clusters, all the NGC nebulae and all the NGC planetary nebulae. It also lists galaxies to mag 10.
Open clusters, LMC and SMC objects are not included. (33 objects are north of dec +50 and 47 are south of dec -50)
The data is based on Dr. Wolfgang Steinicke's work. http://www.klima-luft.de/steinicke/ngcic/ngcic_e.htm
