new 7Nm H alpha Eta Carina image

Hi all
Here is an image of Eta Carina, taken with my modded 350D, and Baader 7Nm Hydrogen Alpha filter.
2x15 mins ISO 200. After dark subtraction and stacking I opened it in Photoshop and discarded the blue and green channels, only keeping the red channel (as thats all the filter passed).
It seemed odd using this filter as it is so dark nothing at all is visible in the viewfinder, and even Sirius is barely visible as the dimmest red dots. I focussed on Sirius, then moved to Eta carina and did a few short test images to gauge focus and also framing of the nebula.

My off axis guider has a pick off prisim outside the actual focuser tube so gets clear unfiltered starlight to guide with.

wow that image of Eta C has striking contrast - looks like ISO200
really does the job well for you - i really like it.

I wonder if you could you use that image to compose a (L)RGB image ?

Wonderful image Scott. The great thing about a small a wavelength interval the signal to noise goes up dramatically and there are no chromatic aberrations. Beautifully guided for manual.

Yes, Paul Im thinking of using this image for the red channel of a RGB, or the L channel of a LRGB, I will have a play in next few days.

I forgot to mention I used my 10 inch F5.6 newtonian on the old "Sampson" german eq. mount.
Im lucky re the HA filter. Baader kindly gave it to me in return for them using some of my UHCS filtred images on their website

Yes Im so glad I can guide on unfiltred starlight from guidestars by hand.
