Paid problem solving

I thought this may be off interest.

How about selecting one and see if we can collectively solve it?

I think the idea of such a site is perhaps the next step in human evolution. A market place for ideas.

It is said that inteligence is best described as the ability to solve problems and I suspect that exercising the brain in this way is very good for well being and will not find you worrying that you can live too long.

Just reading through what seekers need is most interesting... and I think if something here is up your street you may well wake up with a method worthy of following and developing.

Love the idea, Alex, but not sure how much ill be able to contribute since my areas of expertise tend to run to health care solutions and community development

presumably i'll make for an excellent layperson with which to Ockham's razor your solutions

Accomplishing this is worth billions, not 30k... The oil and gas industry have tried for 4 decades to extract structures from noise... the benefits to the industry over the entire world is essentially "priceless"...

And 2D data is easy... 3D brings along a whole set of additional problems.

OIC!

Not sure how much of an issue this would be but if you register then you have to hand over your ideas and IP over to the company or organisation behind it all. So if you were able to devise something that could be worth millions you would only expect to get few thousand dollars. The company or organisation would get the millions for your research.
On the other hand how of your submission could be used even it is not the primary finding and you don't get the prize.

I would use a technique analogous with confocal microscopy where you are only imaging from a very thin layer in the object. A time resolved array of detectors (phase and intensity) would effectively select the signal from a slice of the layers thus improving the signal to noise. This would have to be used with an array of emitters to 'focus' the ultra sonic? acoustic waves to the layer being sensed. This would lower signal from all the other layers that is the noise that masks the signal.

Where is my prize?

Thats the spirit Bert

You have won the best prize there is ... and that is the recognition that you have still got it.

Now all we have to do is build one and cut out the middle man and make the billions apparently on offer.

Good thinking.

I retract this as i found out after reading partial or no award can reject handing over IP rights. (Over-reacting)
