Jupiter 26th Feb from tassie - checking raws

Had scope out, woke up without alarm at 4, so duck to the window and see stars.

Downstairs and over to scope, venus starting to pop over the horizon. I really want to see this comet!!!!

CLouds start to come in. Much to my own amazement, i have focussed on jupiter and it is snapping into focus quite nicely, but shape is distorting. Grab a quick 450 frames @ 5fps.

Flick over to optimized colour to give 10fps a go, but image starts to fade with high cloud and then disappears with low cloud.

So, bugga all!

Here is 100 odd frames out of the 450 using raw colour mode. On the left is using aviraw to convert the raw into colour and on thr right is using the addittional tab and letting registax do the conversion. I see vertical lines, plus optimizing go wacky! This avi will be deleted and no further correspondance will be entered in to!!!

So, for the raw colour mode guys, stick to debayering outside of registax at this stage!!

And to this comet I Say

"where the ****** hell are you"

Nice GRS there Dave , pity about the cloud. Didn't do much better here. Really should have stayed in Bed last night for Saturn and this morning... but weekends are my best chance so I persevered. Shooting through and round cloud isn't much fun

cheers,
