grease for lenses

For some time I am trying to find the suitable grease for lubrication of various moving parts, especially inside mechanicals of lenses..
What I have in mind is this grease that is dense, VERY high viscosity that does not flow out, allows moving (with increased resistance if youtry to do it fast, but on the other hand it does not resist slow, tiny adjustments. Usually if was found in binocular eyepieces..
It is nothing like usual stuff used for mechanical parts, like lithium grease for example.. this stuff is much, much more viscous, almost like honey. It is neither petroleum based vaseline...
Can someone help me with this?

Well, yes.. lots of results, many people use lithium grease.. tried, but it is not what I need..

I work at the bp ware house in perth, i could always go over to the manufacturing shed to ask somebody. Put it in list form dot points what you want it to do exactly and ill talk to a few people.

Hi Bojan,

You said you have tried a few types so far,
Have you tried UHT-EP grease?
It's high temp, wheel bearing type grease but I call
it 'Sticky grease'.....it's high viscous and sticks to
everything!
It makes a loose tolerance sleeve become 'grippy' and
sticky.
I used it in my Bartels stepper drive in the first few
gears in the reduction drive to kill completely a harmonic
rattle that I had at sky rate.
It would bind up a lens system the way you want, I'd
say.

These Fluorocarbon 'Damping' greases may be what you are looking for ( though 100 Euros for a selection seems pricey ) . The link here is to Micro Tools who supply lots of bits and bats for camera repair. http://www.micro-tools.de/mm5/e_lubricants.htm
They could be a starting point for a search for a single grease from a nother supplier .

Thank you for all your replies..
I will try to follow suggested links, the term "damping grease" is the right key word I was looking for :-)

In the meantime, in one old EQ2 mount (made in Japan) that I dismantled (for repair) I found exactly what I needed - there was some excess of the stuff so now I have a sample to show around... It looks like silicone grease (semi-transparent), keeps its shape when not disturbed (but it has tendency to flow, it is obvious that surface tension is high because it becomes round and shiny when disturbed), sticky to the touch, and very viscous. In one word, ideal.. but there is not enough of it :-)

Hi Bojan , Both these items seem to stem from my particular part of the world. I do not know about the first item but there is a warning DONT about the Rocol item with regard to Microscopy lubrication . Here is the warning link http://www.microscopy-uk.org.uk/mag/...04/iwlomo.html
It would appear to really gum up the works . There may be some mileage in searching with Google inc microscopy etc. Best wishes for your search.

Thanks for the warning :-)
It seems this one changes viscosity with temperature too much.

I also found out that Toyota is adopting high-damping grease to be used in front suspension system (this one should be wide-temp range). Checked with locals but no-one knows anything about it yet...
