Maritime Museum

Some images from a visit to the WA Maritime Museum in Fremantle . Very classy looking building with a real modern feel and well presented displays. the entrance to the Museum is interesting with the walls nearby listed with the names of immigrants who entered Australia through the ports of Freo. On the pathways leading to the entrance there are tiles with pictures of the showpiece southern astronomical objects With a lot more care and wider lens the inside of the museum would be good for photography but with a impatient wife and follow visitors its a bit challenging . But here's some pics of the great yacht Australia11 and Jon Saunders boat that he used to do a solo voyage around the world .Outside is a decommissioned Navy submarine that's open for inspection , the scale isn't captured well {its huge}, unfortunately the temp was high so we didn't go inside but very impressive . The sailing ship is a training ship for youth etc and travels the west coast , when i was in yr10 I got asked if I wanted to go on it for a weeks voyage , at the time I declined and regretted it big time . Well worth a visit if your in Port

Interesting stuff Stuart. The sub looks huge when it's out of the water like that. I assume its one of the recently retired Oberons?

I went to the Adelaide Maratime Museum a couple of months ago, and it looks pretty small in comparison to what you've got over there in WA.
