MEADE LXD55 SN 10" EQ mount w/Autostar [price drop $1600 ono + optional extra gear]

I'm selling my MEADE LXD55 Schmidt Newtoniam 10" telescope with Ultra High Transmission Coatings including equatorial mount with Autostar Controller (GoTo setup), MEADE Tripod and MEADE 26mm Super Plossl eyepiece.

Package also includes original manual, 240V power cable, 12V wiring loom + sealed lead acid battery (for unplugged field use), original D-size battery pack holster and foam packing ends for the tube assembly.

I'm the first owner [paid over $2500 new] it's a great scope with beautiful optics & autostar setup. It's in very good condition - looking to sell for $1700 or near offer - so make me an offer!

Price doesn't include postage/handling - can be organised but buyer to pay costs.

(happy to PM or email larger photos)

Does the Meade autostar have a polar alignment function similar to the Celestron "all star" polar alignment (like on the CGEM mount)?

Hi Gem (Grant),
I'm unfamiliar with the Celestron setup but the EQ6 mount has a polar alignment scope with illuminated reticle - for lining up Octans. The Autostar then has a simple 2-star alignment so you can manually adjust to centre the two alignment stars (i.e. two brightest visible stars that are automatically slewed to) and maximise your GoTo alignments in subsequent viewing (and astrophotography).
Regards, Michael.

I bought one of these scopes last year and the mount is an lxd55 equatorial mount not an eq6 , and as I remember does not have a polar alignment scope.the lxd55 is closer to an eq5 than an eq6. The scope is great for deep sky stuff when mounted firmly.
Hope this helps

Hi, the mount is an LXD55 - and Quality Control checklist that came with the scope clearly states its an 'EQ6 Mount', and it does have a polar alignment scope with illuminated reticle. Cheers.

Anyway it's a great scope - and it's still FOR SALE! Please PM me if you're a serious buyer.
