At it again, M83

I had a couple of hours of pretty good meridian seeing the other night and put it to good use with nearly 2hours of clean guiding. I was surprised how far out the nebulosity of the main galaxy goes as can be seen well in this image http://thebigfoto.com/wp-content/upl...messier-83.jpg Before compressing for upload the nebulosity at the bottom and over near the two small galaxies is quite visible. Cropped and reorientated for a change

So much detail around the core and even up to the tips of the arms.
You've excelled yourself this time Paul.

I'm working my way up to colour Colin. One day soon.

Thanks Terry. I'm really coming to enjoy shooting this. I'm going to keep at it over the next few months and see if I can get some really sharp subs. A good collimation would probably help .

Is that with the VC200L? Great shot and detail and it's good to see everyone struggling out to collect some photons.

Yes it is Allan. Its starting to come together. Thanks.

Thanks Chris and Dave. I think I can substantially improve on it though. If its clear enough tonight I'll redo the collimation.

Nice shot, there is someting to be said about black and white images. They make you concentrate on the detail as apposed to how pretty the colours make an image look. I like it.

The particular opject is proving to be my nemisis. I've tried and tried but cant get a decent shot of it. I'm enviouse. I had 4 hrs worth of data on it a few weeks ago only to realise that I had taken 4 hrs worth dew, aaarrgghhh!!!

Great shot.

Yes there is WR. I really enjoy the simplicity of shooting in mono as well. And the processing is far less tedious.

I've been wanting to do a decent job on this one for a few years now. This seems to be the year for it for me. Good luck with your hunt ....... Its most satisfying when you nail it.

A beautiful shot Paul.

I love the detail.

I have tried photographing it but I don't have the focal length to do it justice.

Thanks.

Ross.
