Last Saturday had the chance to tour a seismic survey ship that had to come into port at Fremantle harbour . My Dad who works in the Oil/Gas exploration industry as a consultant has spent some time working aboard it around the world and was keen to take up the opportunity to give us a tour.Very interesting to see first hand on what happens aboard and the complexity involved is quite mindblowing. The basic operation of the vessel is to carry out seismic surveys of suspected areas that may yield and support oil and gas mining operations . Vast systems {can be up to 4km in length} of optical cable are feed out from the back of the ship and sound waves are generated to give detailed data of the makeup of the surveyed seabed .Anyway here's some pics of the ship covering the bridge, the massive network of cables at the back of the ship , the deck and a couple showing operations . I have always felt working on a ship would be intersted...with me working in car carrying....we operate out of the wharfs and see huge car carrying vessels and grain ships come in daily.

Damn fine ship, maybe Capn Ving should give er the once over. They must spend all their time cleaning painting and polishing, has to be the tidiest ship I have ever seen.
The console room is awesome. I enjoy seeing the ships come into Newcastle Harbour, recently watched the Jebesen "Enterprise" dock and it was amazing, I think they may carry "Porches"?
