Hi all, here is a small postcard from this fascinating wide field around the snake nebula:

http://www.glitteringlights.com/Imag..._hzRdg8f-X3-LB

This image cover almost the same FOV of plate 20 of the original Barnard Catalog and this whole area is full of dark nebulae. here is the link to the catalog chart: http://www.library.gatech.edu/Barnar...-cht020_sm.jpg)

As usual from Coonabarabran, RGB, only 30mins per channel (this image was done just as test but this field turned out to be quite pretty, so decided to process the image). Other tech data on the image

Hope you will like it

Marco ... if you find one jaw, under the FLI, when you go over there should be mine, put it aside that I come to take !!!!!

The best photos are when you least expect it ....30 min .... coming for me from heaven ... congratulations.

Second jaw drop! Amazing. Love those golden fields with blue stars. Looks like diamonds in the sand. Did a shot on M7 a while ago from Ilford but not even close to this even with a lot more integration time. Gotta love Coona. Shame it's such a long drive for us Sydney siders. Top work!

Thanks Leo, I will look carefully than next time I m down there
You are right, I didn't expect much from this shot but somehow these wide fields in the milky way turns out pretty even if there are not so prominent subjects in the FOV

Thanks Trevor, actually 30 mins are too little and on the shadows this is quite evident. Luckly the sky in Coona helps a lot..

Thanks for your nice comment Marc, I will pay attention to not mix your jaw with the one of Leo than.. Coona is indeed a looong way to go from Sidney, 7 to 8 hours, but believe u guys don't need to travel that long to find excellent skies

Thanks Louie. Well, this is the biggest standard res that smugmug permits me to upload, however I am still trying to check if can upload as standard XL up to 2000 pixel per side..

Thanks Steve, actually processing this "simple" image took me a very long time, could not find any result that pleased me for at least 4 or 5 versions..

I'll second that. This setup is *really* delivering the goods! Mind you the 6*7 300mm is not that 'little' .. and it's very hard to find too!

That's a great image, it really shows off all the details of this area. The snake looks beautiful and those blue giants gives a nice contrast to the dusty background.

Marco,

Stunning!

This was one of the first regions I photographed when I got my FSQ-106N; my version was rotated 90 degrees to the right.

The little dusty nebulae really stand out so proud amongst all that sparkling sand.

Excellent work, as per the norm!

Your image shows a lot of vitality for such short exposure time.

Very nice. This area is a bit tricky to image and have it come out interesting. Something your image has achieved well.

Yes the Pentax 67 300mm EDIF is a rare lens. I have the non-ED which is easy to get for about $300. I haven't used it yet except for terrestial and it seemed fine for that. I need an adapter from Precise Parts.
You can get a 67 to Canon or Nikon adapter on ebay for about $65. I am told the non-ED suffers a bit from false colour but would be fine for narrowband.

Greg.
