Meade QX 36mm 2" or Meade Super wide 40mm 2"

Hi All.......

While I was down the Gold coast picking up my Counter weight set for my LX 200.......I happen to check out the eyepieces as one does when their in the market.....

I am trying to work out what the difference is as the price comparison is huge....

The Meade 4000 QX series 5 element 36mm 2" 70 degree FOV is retailing for $165 with the 26mm 2" coming in at $155.

Now the Meade super wide 6 element 40mm 2" 67 degree FOV comes in at $510 with the 32mm coming in at $410

Can anyone explain why the big difference in price as I think the Meade QX 36mm 2" is a bargain.

I already have the GS superview 30mm 2" and my Nagler 17mm is turning up tomorrow but for people that like brand names I believe this is a good price......and yes I saw the price drop for the GS Superview...very nice price.

To be honest Meade dont have a great rep for eyepieces and the only ones ive heard described as "premium" are the 14mm and 8.8 UWA.

Whats wrong with the 30mm GS SV ?
I have heard the SV described as good or better than the Meade SW and at a fraction of the price.
In short the Meade SW is not in the same league as a panoptic or pentax for performance.

As for the QX its an unknown quantity at this time and nobody appears to have published a review as yet.
