If you've got room for one more, I am interested. I am driving up to Kulnura tonight for a look, there being a new moon and no clouds. I think I know where the pony club is btw, near the general store in Kulnura (if that's where the petrol pumps are, but don't know where/when you meet up, how long you usually stay...
Glad I went last night. Doesn't look good out the window... The batteries on my scope failed after viewing 2 objects. Pity it isn't a dob...
I was at Springs Road which is a few kms shy of Kulnura, off of Wiseman's Ferry Road. There is a field there with great horizon to the south, but bad to the north and east and west OK.
Got a lot of good binocular viewing in and left around 2 when the clouds started to come over.
Hi David.
Yes those NextStars really need an external power source.
What type of field was this near Kulnura?
Public, private, unknown ??
Greg.
Not a field as such. It was a stretch next to the road. Very few cars. About 100-200m from the Springs road turnoff. About 10-20m of distance between the road and the 1m wooden fence.
not far from the paint ball place we used to go to by the sounds of it
geoff
If that is the triangular park at the t-intersection in Kulnura, I tried once there too, but the locals had their lights on until I left at 2 AM. Springs road is not that wide not sure if you'd fit too many people on it. I go when the skies look good, if it's a weeknight and the moon is nearly new.

Thanks David.
Found it on Google Earth.
Looks a bit lite on amenities .
You should like the Pony Club.

Hmmm. I'm not sure what amenities you have at star parties (I bring everything with me). Don't want to go to the Pony club uninvited, so I think I'll head to Springs Road tonight from about 7:30 PM onwards.
Pity that Saturday night was the only bad night this new moon.
