Taking it to the street!!
Hi everyone!
I saw the Doobie Brothers last night at the Convention Centre here in Brisbane - so much better than having to travel to the boonies to the Entertainment Centre at Boondall - and I am still buzzing.
It was loud, it was fun, it was awesome, it was good old fashioned rock & roll, with the odd blues number thrown in. There was no big screen. There were no pyrotechnics. There were no leather clad support dancers. Just a set of drums, some keyboards and 4 mike stands on stage with a banner behind with the band's name on it. And there was the raw power of a group of guys with guitars who just wanted to have fun and belt out their hits.
And we, the audience, got taken along for the ride of our lives!
It is a long time since I've been to see a band play like that, with nothing more than instruments and passion. In a way it reminded me of the pub bands that we used to go see when I was at uni. The only thing missing from last night was about a half dozen schooners of Reschs!!
OK, back to work for me... "Oh blackwater, keep on..."
