Custom Made Solar Astrophotography System (H Alpha)

Why waste money on Lunt or Solarmax if, for only 299 euro you can get a 12" Custom Made Solar Astrophotography System (H Alpha).
I bet Ken will be getting few sets....

Hmmm he won't be getting my hard earned money...
Read the fine print:
A Baader Solar Film front filter in a CNC machined cell (Whooopy do!) and then a wide band (35nm) Ha DEEP SKY FILTER at the eyepiece/ camera.
Total cost of bits - around $80!
Unfortunately with the system as described it is PHYSICALLY IMPOSSIBLE to resolve the narrow Ha (needs around 0.1nm!) wavelength to show proms etc.
Don't waste your money..... send it to me instead and I'll send you a Baader Solar Film - in a hand cut cardboard cell (!!?) and a much better Baader Continuum filter - Ideal for 100% safe, WHITE light observing of the Sun.

I can add my testimony to Merlin66's comments, having tried it a year or two back. It doesn't work - you get nothing but an orange-coloured Sun, and dim at that. No loss, at least I've got an Ha filter that could be useful for other things. Just can't quite think of what at the minute! I tried all sorts of things including 'supercharging' it with more sunlight, but all to no avail. Oh, except the Sun was a much brighter orange!

Cheers -

Sorry guys - I was being sarcastic.
I do know this would not work.
I emailed the seller for some sample Ha Alpha pictures he took.
His reply:
"Hello there

Thanks for your message. I do not have any pics at the minute, I have myself a 12" motorised dobson, and I made myself already one set. However the weather is bad here for the last week or two. The pics on the ad I are very close representations, they are h-alpha and about the same resolution (taken with reducers actually, so your image will be zoomed in more).

The system will take a day or two to machine, then I must buy in the camera, filters and assemble everything. So not too long. If you can wait a day or two, the minute I get a chance, I will be replacing the pics on the advert and I will email you some footage.

You can also google for h-aplha pics, there is a wealth of them out there. The other thing is the logitech is great for planetary photography too. Take a look at my youtube channel at the moon vids for an idea of the sharpness (not the copernicus vid, that was with a toucam).

Last of all I take the opportunity to remind you I offer a full customer service on this system, so do not be afraid there.

Kind regards"

I think he actually believes he has a Ha Alpha system...
