Exclamation Victoria under flood & storm warning again!

Here we go again!

Victoria has been given the WARNING of severe flash flooding, dangerous thunderstorms, large hail and damaging winds over the next few days, commencing within the next few hours.

Immediate warning for: Ballarat ( that's here), Maryborough, Geelong and Melbourne.
http://www.thecourier.com.au/news/lo...t/2067157.aspx

Looks like Yasi wants a piece of Victoria before she totally fades away

Wind is already picking up intensity here now.
Going to head to supermarket and stock up again.

Victorians, Beware out in the open.

Hi Ken and Leon,
We have not had any wind to speak of but there is about 50mm in the rain gauge that has fallen in an hour (in Maldon).
Stay Safe.
Greg.

Just got back from the Supermarket near Leon's house (confused as to which house you live in now, coz your rig was in another house).
Sky to west and south is BLACK! As in night-time black

Radio said Mildura just got bombarded about 1 hour ago with Black sky then torrential rain and wind.

The sky here is getting so black it looks like the end of everything! Bizarre.

OMG I had a bolt of lightning come down so close that it sounded like an explosion. Literally an explosion. Loudest crack of thunder I've ever heard left me trmbling a bit for a while.

Lot of lightning here and heavy rain, glad I live on top of a hill on days like this

Mildura has had 111mm of rain so far, almost half their YEARLY average, Laverton had a 132km/h gust just now and there is still more to come!

We have had 2" and it is just getting heavier at the moment. The Radar looks like we are just getting into it now. Looks like the Kiewa River will be in full flood tomorrow again.
My wife and I went into Albury this afternoon and just a quick 5 minute storm filled all the regulating basins and drains to capacity. The rain in there hasn't stopped.
God help those along the Murray River. Looks like a big wet coming up.

Hope Jen is Ok. Although it will take a few days to get to her place.

Yep, we are getting a flogging as we speak, coming down in buckets but the wind has died, and there are only a few lightning strikes around.

Ken, mate we have the rig parked over the road, well actually that is where we camp so to speak when not on the road.

The young woman of the house is our very good friend, and she suggested we do this to save on caravan fees whilst not traveling.

It is a beaut spot all landscaped and nice driveway which i put in as a return for her generosity.

We move again on the 14th or 15th of this month, and spend 9 - 12 months exploring the West.

Leon

We lost power just after 9pm.
Typing this on my HTC desire mobile phone
Leon, more lightning on the way. The west is alive with thunderstorms and they are coming this way again. It is bucketing down right now. Going back outside with my son to watch the show.
Hanging up now.

My wife and I drove into Laverton not too long after that 130kph wind gust and it showed.

We set off from home - all dry - but a huge thunderstorm to the south. We ran parallel to it until we had to turn towards Laverton/Altona Meadows. WHACK! The rain! No hail thank goodness, but we were down to very slow speed and the road was already starting to overflow. Drains running very full.

Then the rain eased off as we pulled into Laverton to find branches and trees down everywhere and lots of local flooding. It took us a further 30 min to find a way around, across the Freeway, and to the place we had to visit. Spent an evening under candlelight since power was out.

Had a slow drive back on the Freeways/Highway to home with occasional very heavy rain.

Forcast is for calm for some hours, then steady heavy rain much of Saturday. Rule of thumb seems to be - whatever you have received, add another 50mm tomorrow.

Some rainfall totals since late this afternoon:-

Mildura 113mm
Ballarat 51mm
Laverton 26mm to 7:48pm at which point the station lost power
Scoresby 60mm
Moorabbin Airport 104mm
Melbourne 45mm

Some of these are amazing falls. (I believe the Melbourne record is 130mm in 24 hr)

I fear that it's all started again. All the flooding from some weeks ago - it will all happen again and likely worse given the saturation of the whole west of the State.

Quick Desler - get it on realestatedotcom as "Absolute Waterfront Property"!
Our driveway is pretty much stuffed now so we have to drive through the paddock to get off the farm.

Power back on here now. No rain for a few hours hopefully.
But going to be worse tomorrow.

Halls Gap, Creswick, and Clunes have been evacuated.
