Northern Sydney Astronomical Society

Hi,
I've been trying to email the Northern Sydney Astronomical Society to
find out when their next observing night is but my emails get returned
undelivered from the addresses I found on their website. Also, when I
look at the website calendar, there is nothing there. Does anyone
know of an email address where I can contact them, or when the next
observing session is?

Thanks,
Susan

Mike, the 'Boss' Iceman is a member. He will help in your quest. Why not PM him? L.

This is their website: http://www.nsas.org.au/

Email: nsas@nsas.org.au

The calendar page doesn't work for me this morning, either.

I think their next observing session is the coming weekend, Friday and Saturday night. They meet at the North Turramurra Golf Course.

Hi Mike,

I've actually tried that email address and another one for the secretary
that I found on the website but both came back as unable to be delivered.
I'll give it another go.

Thanks

astro_set, most astro societies have a recess over Christmas New Year and don't re-commence till February.

I just called one of the phone numbers on the website and talked to a
very helpful person who gave me info on the observing nights.

Thanks

This weekend actually. As Iceman said, they meet at Turramurra Golf Course.
Saturday is the official night but there should be people there on Friday as
well,as long is the weather is OK of course. Apparently it's better to arrive
before dark. If you arrive after dark, you have to be careful of your headlights
stuffing up people's imaging.

If you have a look on the website, there are a couple of people you can
phone if you want to check if it going ahead as scheduled.

They also said there are often people there the weekends either side of the
observing nights as well. I can't go this weekend but I'll try another weekend.

Hi Susan (and welcome to IIS),

I don't live in the North Sydney area, but would be happy to go there. Do you have to be a member to attend?

Give me a holler when the next one's on.

Regards,
Humayun

Hi Humayun,

It seems to be OK for non members to go. I'm not a member and they
are happy for me to go along and look through people's telescopes.

They have their official observing nights the weekends when there is the
least moon (I'm sure there is a technical term for that), weather dependent
of course.
