I'm looking for an 8mm orthoscopic (or similar design) eyepiece with a 1.25" barrel. It must be fully multicoated and at least up to the standard of UO orthos, and have 40 degree FOV minimum. No plossls (not enough eye relief). Essentially, I'm after something with very high transmission and contrast.
Price is not an issue unless it's too expensive.
Bit of background for those interested:
I love my simple EPs, HD orthos and TV Plossls, on planets, galaxies and planetaries. For planets, they give the best contrast and work great on their own and in a barlow. For galaxies and other faint fuzzies they pull more light than anything else I've tried, so I can tease out fainter details. Having a relatively small aperture 8" scope, this is pretty important. My present collection of EPs includes focal lengths of 7, 9, 10.5, 12 and 15mm. So, I am after an 8mm orthoscopic to fill the gap between the 7 & 9mm. Yes there
is a gap.
Thanks.
