Orion & The 12''er

Tried to image the other night in Gale forced winds so the fact i have any kinda image is an achievement especially given i was using a 12" newt on an EQ6 for this image.

I tried not too sharpen this too much i do like it soft, but the core definately needs some more time and devotion, i was feeling lazy by the time i got to layering the said core.

I am kinda happy with the new adapter that brings my MPCC to better distance from the chip it seems to have done an ok job on the coma, not perfect but better than b4, thanks OPT corp.

Hi Shane,

I think this is an amazing photo. I also have a 12 GSO Newtonian and we have mountede it on my EQ6 to do planetary imaging but never Deep Sky as we could not achieve focus. Can you tell me what you had to do to achieve that and what camera were you using. Again great shot.

Nice amount of detail and sprawling nebulosity and dust there... And the blue running man is very nice and blue

I agree the core needs more work, currently looks artificially gray and dull.

Hate that easterly was gusting 40km/hr here last night (at which point I packed up). But at least it's clear

I have gone to a fair bit of trouble but nothing major to mount the Skywatcher 12" on the EQ6, Parallax ringset was the first major upgrade, they are very sturdy and really improve wobble by a great deal.
Next was an a custom made losmandy dovetail, it is almost half a metre in length giving even more stability. The Scope itself needed a Moonlite extremely low profile motor focuser in order to achieve prime focus. Prime focus and inward travel is always a B$%CH with Newts with CCD, DSLR's and Binoviewers.
Camera was an Atik 11000 OSC at 25x3mins.

Rog, i took 2sec,10sec,15, 30 and 1minute subs to do the core so when my New years head clears i'll have a decent go at the core
