Skywatcher vs Celestron

Hi all, my little boy wants to get a telescope for Christmas and ive had a look at previous forums for an entry level reflector scope. By the looks of the Dob 8 inch is highly recommended but we realy dont have anything to sit it on so we are looking at an EQ2 mount. I just want to know what the difference is between the Celestron 130EQ MD and the Skywatcher SW135. Ive noticed that the focal field of the celestron is 650mm and the skywatcher is 900 or 1000mm. Also ive also noticed that Skywatcher has a scope out that is a 130 with a 650mmfocal field and has a parabolic mirror. Can anyone help me determine the differcence with these diffrerent models it would be greatly appreciated.

Aaron

Hi Aaron,
For a scope of that size + the fact that it will be for your son (I assume visual only) then I think it would come down to price.

Personally I'd go for the 8" Dob as a first scope.

Here's another IIS thread on the SW135 that may interest you. http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/s...ad.php?t=22930

Cheers, Bryan
