Jup Nov 14th SEB revival

Hi All,

Set out to image the SEB revival last night, the seeing was initially pretty ordinary and went progressively down hill. The only usable data I have has the outbreak near the limb and then 7 mins after Pauls very nice RGB posted earlier.

I have attached 2 RGB & 2 807nm IR images they also include a shadow transit of Europa with Ganymede close by to the East.

It is really amazing just how bright this outbreak is, even with poor seeing it was visible in all channels in the live feed and in the processed images is becoming quite extended.

Thanks for looking'
Regards
Trevor

Nice work Trevor, I have an image of mid transit of the SEB revival too.

It is getting a fair bit of airplay at present.

I viewed the revival after imaging through the eyepiece at 325x and it was quite visible. Seeing was still good at that time but not good enough to continue imaging. It is really interesting to see it live through the eyepiece though.

Thanks for the views Trevor, they are very nice. Had very thick cloud at my place last night, otherwise it was calm and supposed to be no jetstream. I am glad you got some, thanks for the views.

Woo hoo, nice work Trev.
With the revival of both Jupiters SEB and Solar activity, we're getting spoiled with images.
Paul.....did I read that correctly? did you say eye piece? LOL
You get great live views of jup using Live View on the dslr. Big bright and beautiful.

Great stuff Trevor. You caught the shots I wanted to ( I mean in terms of composition )only the seeing down here was rubbish.

Thanks Paul, cannot remember the last time I used my 16" for visual observing, the only eyepiece that gets a regular gig is my 9mm Nagler in a 3x TV Barlow. to align my scope prior to dropping in my imaging setup.

Thanks Matt, Jup has always been pretty dynamic but now with the SEB revival underway things are changing from one rotation to the next.

Thanks Lester, reckon with all of the crook weather you have had this year there just has to be some rip snorter weather windows heading your way. Reckon your turn must be coming.

Thanks JJJ, might be worth a try with the DSLR, the active region in the SEB is at approx CMII 290 degrees.

Nice one Tevor! Thanks a lot for sharing
I'm looking foward to see when I can distinguish something trough my 76mm scope... it'll be difficult but I'll give it a chance (new barlow arriving today!) lol

Cheers, Luis.

Thanks very much young Bird, not sure if I have developed psychic powers or not but I see better data in my future.

Thanks Luis, this outbreak is becoming so prominent that I think you may well see it in your 76mm scope, worth a try anyway, it is at approx CMII 290 degrees.

Thanks Michaell, I am sure this SEB revival will be spectacular and with the equipment available to amateurs now, it will be the most comprehensively covered in history
