Canon 300D

Hi everyone,

I would like to know if anyone has used a Canon EOS 300D without a CF card and controlled it through the laptop??

Is it possible to be able to do so?? I have a 300D but the pins where the CF card slots into one of them is missing so i am getting an "error 2" display..

So thats why i am asking if possible to control the camera and take photos without a CF card.

Thanks

claude

You should be able to set it in the menu to take pictures without a card.
It can be done with my 10D.
Set the top left dial on M and then go into the menu and scroll to the custom function.
In the custom function there wil be a setting shutter release w/o CF card and set it on 0 so you can take pictures without the CF card.

Hi,

I have used a 300D for long exposure deep sky astrophotography. The drivers only work on windows xp. You will need some camera control software such as dslrfocus and a long exposure bulb cable to capture long exposures >30s.

Hi,

when i turn the camera on i cant see the menu display, because it needs a CF card to see the display menu, but it works fine, can i control and set the menu function through the laptop.. Also

I have DSLRfocus and long cables, but wanting to know if there is like a video on how things are done without a CF card and show what you need to do..

once the usb cable is attached to the camera and laptop, start canon utilities. Click on camera settings and remote shooting. The camera contol window displays. There are many options to control the camera settings. Including saving images to the hard disk only.

Not sure about the 300D but here is a video tutorial for the 500d:

I loaded the russian hack into my 300D. From memory it will then allow you to use the camera without the card. I'll have to dig it out and check though
