My best Lagoon Triffid area so far

Hi all
A clear cool night, so set up the 300mm f2.8 flourite lens from Bert and did the Lagoon Triffid

12x10 mins ISO 400. LPS filter, f5 using external aperature stop. Hand guided with 80mm guidescope. Temp 11 degrees.

A bit salmony-pinkish in colour but a terrific effort Scott, looks like you have been looking at some of the data I had from astrofest

I have to agree with Dave, a bit pinkish, but, hand guided, mate, you have to be happy with the result! Lovely work!

Very cool Scott. One my fav. I actually shot that whole area recently in 5 panels. Still to process it. I'll certainly use your shot as a reference.

Lovely focus and detail in the star clouds, m8 looks a bit blown out, plus the color ...... Minor points.

Guiding is bang on, well done.

That's an improvement, from what I have seen the light pollution filters tend to intensify the ha colors from a magenta to a red. With the encroachment of city lights here I may end up using some form of light pollution filter.

Still a bit salmon but nice all the same. Great field of view. I have a 300 f2.8 and I might have to take a look at this myself at some point. Always a credit to you to hand guiding each image. It would bore me silly and it was painfull when I was doing it with film in the 80's. Well done.

Thanks all. Mind you I have to guide continiously for only 10 mins at a time, though normally when everything is going smoothly I keep guiding, just reaching over to terminate each exposure and start the next every 10 mins
