NGC7090 in Indus

My first result in a while due to terrible Adelaide weather

I had to settle for a near full moon, average seeing and
quite a heavy dew. Excuses.....still happy to get something.
I haven't shot this galaxy before. It is mag 10.7 according
to cartes and mag 11.0 from dss online.
A bad gradient, possible due to the nearby moonlight which was
shining on the inside of the OTA.

Pity about the gradient, but as you said, probably unavoidable.

Well I could have shielded the top of the OTA Carl.
Here are a few mag estimates taken from Aladin Sky Server
with a GSC 2 catalogue overlay.

You have to take what you can get Steve, not a bad match for the DSS, have you shot some of the spirals in Grus .... About the same size, but being more face on you can scoop out more detail. Transits about 1ish so it's do-able at this time of year.

Clive, as far as spirals in Grus?.....from what I have just looked through from July/Aug/Sep last year..I can only find I've got this Seyfert in Grus....

That's to the top of grus as it rises, these are to the lower end ngc 7582, 7590, 7599, and ic 5308. Also known as the gurus quartet, but with your narrow field of view won't get them all in. There are three close together might be worth a try.

I had a look at wikisky, to see how it compared, you would be hard pressed to get a lot of detail out of this galaxy.... Tough one.
