New camera - AND clear skies??

Bought a new Canon 550D yesterday to replace my ancient 10D. Very much looking forwards to getting it out tonight to give it a spin - shame about the moon...but you can't have everything I guess

I went in to get the 500D - but the sales guy said that the 550 was the same processor/sensor as the 7D, just not the same build-quality in the body - and for only $200 more seems like a bargain. He also said it would be much better noise-wise than the 500 at higher ISO's...no brainer really.

I am looking forawrd to having Live View to help with focusing - it was very long winded trying to get decent focus on the 10D. I usually ended up getting it "near enough" through the view finder.

Will post some shots if I get my guiding going right. Gave the mount a thorough physical the other night. Amazing how sloppy it gets.

Congratulations Adam. I have had my 550D since early March and think it is terreific. I don't do much astrophotography apart from a few Moon shots. The 55-250 EF-S lense is everything I expected.
