NGC 7822 in Cepheus - STX

Hello all
Once again, thanks for the feedback and kind words on the Orion Star Field image.

but some things just need to be in B&W - I got the colour on this, but its just bland. So, I decided to stick with the Ha only version on this occasion.

Camera/scope is the STX/FSQ106N of course, and this represents 9 hours of data.

cheers and clear skies
Martin

It's just like a production line of beautiful images Martin this STX/FSQ combination - well done as always.

Superb image Martin. Pity the colour does not work. Is there just some slight spikes on the brighter stars? Is the sensor ABG? Maybe I am just seeing things.

Thanks Wayne/Marc/Paul

Paul - yes, I was disappointed in the colour version. This is definately an ABG camera - I think the spikes you are seeing are left overs from star 'flaring' that was otherwise removed during the processing steps.

cheers
Martin

I agree Martin, this area is a little bland in colour... deep reds all around with very little variation..

This shot is a real ripper... Every bit as good as the myriad of images you've produced thus far with the STX/FSQ combo....

I've had spikes like those off brighter stars in some of the images I produced with my TMB/LOMO 80/480. After a lot of troubleshooting, I found that it was slightly overusing deconvolution that caused them... That said, I never found them to be at all annoying or detracting from the image... They were just pointed out to me by someone on IIS.. It made me wonder what caused them..

Congrats on yet another fine image..

This is a lovely image Martin.
Don't really miss the colour too much when the Ha brings so much contrast to these HII areas.

Call me a sucker for BW images...
Still love em!

All the best

Rich

Holy Ha batman, that STX has featured in my dreams since they first were announced.. Great to see one being put to good use by a master of the trade

Link now works for me to, i think my internet browser had one of those "Computer says no" issues
