Iraf

I have just been looking at the IRAF website and the software that they provide looks unbelievable. http://iraf.noao.edu/

It is way beyond my capabilities to understand but does any one here actually use it and if so what do you use it for and how easy was it to actually sort out?

I was looking at this page because I am trying to understand how the data from the Hubble telescope is processed. I still really have no idea.

Thanks

Frank
