Orion Express 80mm Refractor OTA

Hi guys.

Can anyone comment on this scope?

This is just a shorter FL version of the orion ED80 isn't it?

How do you rate the express up against the ED80 ?

I doubt It mate ! this shorty is not an apo , gee looks just like a williams optics scope ah !
You know when you can get an ED80 for the same price which is an apo,why would you bother with an acro ? still everybody to there own I guess.

When I was doing my Photographic course in the RAAF achromatic was defined as a lens that corrects(focuses) light in two wavelengths. Apochromatic lens corrected (focuses) light in 3 wavelengths. I believe semi apo is simply an achromat that uses ED glass.

By the way my next scope will be an Orion APO to replace my 80mm konus short tube (which I will donate to my daughters primary school).

You get a better quality of build and a prettier scope. The ed80 although it comes with a crayford, its still a typical Synta product in that regard.
