Some nice entries so far.
Some are making me hungry.

I really like the macro shots of Andrew's (astro_south) and Mike (Sharnbrook).
I was going to do a macro shot but think I'll enter something else I had in mind instead.

are we able to use photoshop to edit our entry, or does it have to be unedited?

Yes you can.
The only requirements are that the image is within forum TOS rules and size restrictions and that it's your own work.

Thanks Warren, glad you like it.

I've never used GIMP and actually this photo was shot wide open using the 200mm at f/2.8 and the 20D, so I didn't blur the background in post.

In Photoshop I know you can blur the BG by creating a mask, using the blur tool and then 'painting back the subject' leaving the BG blurred, then flattening the image.

Not sure if GIMP has layers.
Maybe someone else that uses GIMP can suggest a solution.

BTW your shot was clever, what are the flower buds made of, marzipan ?

The red ones are tomato skins and the white ones are cucumber skins. Thanks for the tips Gimp does do all that stuff now I just have to learn how to use it properly being a newbie

Ah tomato and cucumber skins, very clever Warren.
BTW here's a quick tutorial on background blur in GIMP.

Les, your chicken/fish/pork bitumen dish looks absolutely repulsive.

I wouldn't have touched it with a ten foot pole...or a three foot Russian..

You get my sympathy vote mate.

Baz.
