Another Rosette.

Hi,

My very understanding wife agreed for me to go to an imaging session the night before we took off for holidays. Taken using W/O Flt 110 and unmod canon 400d at ISO 800. 12 x 10 minute lights with dark,flats and bias frames added. Temp on the night was 18 c so am quite happy with the result. Stacked using DSS and processed photoshop CS3.

Any tips greatly appreciated.

This image has come up very nice. Noise controlled well colour is also very good. You might have a bit of missalignment of your camera as the top right stars are softer and a little elongated the rest aren't to bad.
More exposure is required with an unmodded camera.

Very nice and sharp. Good start but you'll need a lot more data. It's a faint one.

Hi all. When people say more data do they mean more lots of the same exposure or more longer exposure added to the shots I have. Also I am going out tonight however at a moderately light polluted area so 10 minute shots will have the histogram right up. Should I bother.

Actually I think it's also some field curvature. Notice how the stars in all four corners are elongated away from the centre. However, the the left hand side does seem a shade worse than the right hand side, so there may be some misalignment as well. I have exactly the same problems with my ZS110, which has the same optics as the FLT 110.

This is a faint object, especially with an unmodded camera. However you have a good starting point, so if you can add more data, things will only get better.

Doesn't matter too much which way you go, but one 10 min exposure will have less read noise than two 5 min ones. The main thing is to go for longer TOTAL exposure.
