Astronomical Drought breaking

The weather was clearing until I went to the mail box on the way out to check the mail I was looking to the sky with hope in my eyes for the coming night when I found I had mail and I swear from the mail box back to my house the weather changed the clouds came back with a whoosh and I actually got rained on on the way home. I thought what the hell is going on here I should have known what it was but I can be a bit dense sometimes but when I opened my package lo and behold it was my Meade LPI

Its un-natural!
Of the last 180 solar cycles, I have had 43 perfectly clear days, and 81 days of "lite cloud". During that same period I have had 62 nights of intermittent or light cloud and only 17 nights of 'perfect' transparency. Drop that to 9 if I factor in 'seeing', which I've stopped doing. Of these 159 wash-out periods I can only account for 21, due to equipment purchase (assuming 3 nights per item that impacts observing time).
Might as well take up knitting!
This year I suggest we shoud all sync. our purchases to full moon periods and see what happens.

How long after buying something does it take to invoke the cloud gods, and how long does the invocation last?

Is it proportional or inversely proportional to the amount you spent?

Does it come into effect as soon as you have paid for your overseas order and continue until after it arrives?

For instance, buying a collimator, flip mirror, Bob's Knobs and Night Sky Observer's Guide last Friday did not invoke the gods till Sunday, and they have not yet left.

Personally I think the clouds form in the box that has been posted and then escape when it is opened. Of course the bigger the box the more cloud there will be and the longer it will take to disperse.

So when your new telescope arrives don't open the box no matter how tempted you are.
