Another Horse Head Region of Orion - Using Astronomik CLS-CCD

Hi All,

I had a all nigther last night imaging in my backyard. Now this I thought would be impossible as my backyard backs onto a dual lane highway along with its vapour lights. The light is so strong it casts a shadow on my corrector plate on the scope.

However thanks to the Astronomik CLS-CCD on my 20D it does not prove to be a problem, I would have never believed the results if you had asked me a few months ago.

Check it out, I am very pleased as I can now do some more imaging at home.

Thanks for looking.

Nice! Great shot! I like the curtain detail. The Filter seems to be working well. I use a Hutech LPS-2 and must say that I would not image without it now!

Thanks for the comments.

I am so pleased that I am able to do some imaging at home now because of the filter.

Nice, although the black is severely clipped. I wonder if this is a result of the filter or harsh processing.

Also, you've incorrectly labled the image on your site as the Orion Nebula.

Hi Humayun,

I think the black clipping is a result of my processing. The captured image because of the exposure times had the background sky starting to fog. I tend to over clip the black as I hate the effect it gives on my LCD screens. I have not re proccessed this image after being up all night to take it so I will re vist it paying attention to the black levels.

Which label do I have wrong ?

Thanks for your feedback

Chris

Very nice clear image although the black is clipped a little and there seems to be a dark red colour cast over the entire image. May be the result of the filter. I never really liked the CLS filter.
