Cool photos. I like watching the birds around the house here as well.
we have a few Butcher birds around.
They are very quick when the food comes out and they have an ability to catch food in the air like no other bird I know of.

They are good to keep the bugs around the house to a minimum too.

We seem to have a resident family of butcher birds which are fun to watch. I do however hate the way they roost in the roof of the carport and crap all over our vehicles :mad2 : They are fun to watch teasing the dogs except last week one of the dogs won the game and produced an 'ex parrot' . Anyone know how to keep em out of the carport roof ????

Thanks Petra d I was experimenting with Gimp and I found that it really brought the birds to the eye made them stand out I think it was using Highlights that created that effect.

Thanks for comments I love having them around there is one in particular that is almost letting us pat him/her but is taking food from our fingers we had five all flying around us today. I really like their song it is so cool I have a recording around that I will post when I find it do you know if I can attach a sound file.

We have seen them making cat noises to stir up dogs. You could try putting up a kite shaped like an eagle or other big bird of prey to keep them away. But I think we are going to put up with the poop to get the enjoyment of their company.
