anyone llike Christy Moore?

Just wondering if there are any Christy fans out there?

Would love to see him come out to Australia, probably will never happen though I'd pay a small fortune to see him live. Him and Declan.

For those that don't know him, he's a Irish political folk singer. Very outspoken, plays a mean guitar and sings just nicely imho. He's very popular in his native Ireland and pretty much has legendary status. Even big Irish bands like U2 look up to him.

David,

I do enjoy Christy Moore as well as The Pogues, Kirsty MacColl (Vale), Mary Black and then one of our own Shane Howard.

Greg.

I know of the Pogues, but haven't heard their work. I haven't heard of Kirsty MacColl. I do, of course, know of Mary Black, having a fair few of her albums. Lovely voice.

What sort of a telescope does he have?
Does he take pictures of the sky?

Dave,

haven't heard of Kirsty MacColl and you call yourself a Folk
music admirer?
If you were then you'd have also heard of Luka Bloom, Christy's nephew.
I've seen him live and he's brilliant.....It's in the blood obviously.
Two truly talented musicians.

As for Kirsty, see if you can find a duo with her and Shane McGowan
(Pogues) on youtube...Fairytale of New York...brilliant song.

I know Luka Bloom, and I know of Shane McGowan as well, and I'm quite familiar with Fairytale of New York since it appears on several of Christy's albums, including the brilliant "live at the point". I'm just not familiar with Kirsty.

I don't know Billy Bragg so I can't say Claude...there's tonnes of stuff on youtube, that'll give you the best clue as if you'll like him or not.

Kirsty MacColl was run down and killed by a power boat whilst suba diving with her sons in a restricted area at Cozumel, Mexico on the 18.12.2000, one of her songs that gets airplay is "In These Shoes?" another track to listen for is "Don't Come The Cowboy With Me Sonny Jim", If my memory serves me correctly she also recorded with The Cheiftains. Billy Bragg has released a couple of albums with Wilco that are all Woody Guthrie songs (Mermaid Ave Vol. I & II ). An extension of The Pogues was Shaun McGowan with the Popes.
Luka Bloom, a whole nother story.

To much time and too many CD's.
Greg.

When asked what The Pogues music was about Shaun Mc Gowan once said,
Fightin' Flowerin' and Drinkin', my son meet him in New York a few years ago and reported that it seemed that his life's quest was a want to drink himself to death.
