BTW, I should confess that I will be without the Mary Rose that night. Peter Read is doing some further mods for me....will tell you ALL about it on the 14th. I am most excited to be getting an 80mm Stellarvue finderscope fitted, etc etc.
So....I expect someone else with an SDM or Obsession to be there...please!!

Rod....if there is no SDM's or Obsessions there, you can have a peek through mine. But I wouldn't want to spoil you too much while Mary is on leave.

i don't know how many times i have told you blokes about missing new moon nights
in december you go to your local newsagent and you buy a packet of stick on stars
IN JANUARY WHEN YOU GET YOUR NEW CALENDER FOR THE OFFICE AND KITCHEN - YOU PUT ONE OF THOSE STARS ON THE SATURDAY SQUARE CLOSEST TO THE NEW MOON EVERY MONTH FOR THE WHOLE YEAR
YOU TELL YOUR BETTER HALF WHAT THAT STAR MEANS
it is simple - you only need to do it once
never miss a new moon again

Yes, young Geoff, BUT SWMBO will often come up with some "unexpected" yet necessary attendance, even with the new moon symbol on said calendar.
We have a yearly planner, and I mark EVERY new moon for the whole year before the end of the previous year. Well....you can bet at least 3 or 4 of them will involve the in-laws, or some engagement party (fancy anyone planning a party to clash with my observing night!!!).
