NGC253 QHY8 and DSI combo

Have been trialling combining shots of NGC253 taken with QHY8 (5minx14) and DSI II (20x4min) with an old Celestron C8 with Lumicon FR for the QHY8 and without for the DSI. It was my first attempt a guiding at 2000mm FL and was pleased with the result. All shotstaken with real suburban light pollution in BrisVegas.
Ive merged my first trials of this technique but want to get some more data and a better way to combine in PS.
Comments and suggestions welcomed.

Nice shot, Alan

If you can handle 5 min at 2000mm, try extending the exposure time up until you find your present limit, then back off a little. That way, you might get sub times up to 7-10mins and be comfortable in taking pics at that focal length. Then begin the process again and extend your sub times once more. That way, your images should improve as you learn to grab more photons, and also as your processing skills improve.

Guiding at that FL becomes really challenging. Hard to get round stars. You've got some very good details within the galaxy though. Well done.

Very nice start to your QHY8 imaging Allan. I must say 2M is quite a challenge at the best of times.

Had a ball last night and was doing 10 min subs of NGC253 at FL2000mm and Guidemaster demoted 2 arcsec guiding. The RA and Dev corrections seen by EQMOD and Guidemaster were just two flat lines. I have to go through my data and pick the best frames to stack.

Wow, mate, you're a brave man guiding at 2,000mm.

Excellent work. Imagine what you can do with M42 and Orion B now that the season is upon us.

A bit off topic Humayan, that shot you took of the Colosseum is about the only shot my wife has seen on this forum that she really likes or can remember. Either its "its not in colour" or "wasn't that the same as you took last night?"

Interesting combining different focal lengths Allan. I like the colour but it looks just a little clipped on my screen. You have got your guiding sorted, wish my stars were like that.

Paul, You're quite right, its clipped due to all these shots taken from my backyard in Brisbane. Horrendous light pollution which gets frustrating at times as some of the galaxies I want to image are small and just above the skyglow. Getting to a dark site has been a bit of a pain just recently but at least the guiding is going well.
