Is it good time to import

Hi Guys,

Curently 1 AUD = 0.903800 USD do you think it's good time to import optics ?

Australian shops are still selling at prety high prices, they were very quick to drive prices up when AU dollar was low in comparison to US, what about now? Are we going to see price drops ?

There is always a lag between Aussie dollar changes and prices in shops as they import some time in advance plus they would have unsold stock from earlier purchases when the dollar was lower.

I think most retailers work out their landed cost and then add their margin so you tend to get higher prices by importing yourself from overseas.

Also with smaller items if they go through the Post Office they don't charge GST and they definitely don't charge GST for items under $1000 but even larger items they don't seem to charge GST.

Greg.
