Hey Dave, nice photo. She's a very pretty colour. Love the detail on her little ratty ear.

I would love to have a pet rat (among other things on the wish list), but alas we are already overloaded here with dogs (4), guinea pigs (2), horses (3), fish (bristlenoses, glass catfish and marble hatchet fish), Indian ring neck parrots (who have 2 very cute 5 week old chicks at the moment - I must take some photos), chooks and ducks! We also get our fair share of wild ratties and mieces infesting the roof and shed, so it just wouldn't work.

Had pet mice as a kid, and 'rat sat' the high school rats over the school holidays as a kid (oh boy that was a long time ago) - my Dad was the science master. It was always really hard saying goodbye to them at the end of the holidays knowing what was in store for the ratties.

Thanks Kerrie. It sounds like you have quite the menagerie! I love dogs (we have 1), never got into fish. I like birds, especially parrots (we have 1 galah). I had a few guinea pigs when I was younger, and also a duck. Guinea pigs are poor (imho) replacements for rats - they are less affectionate, less trusting, far less intelligent and frequently more bad tempered, at least from my experience. Many others that I know that have had rats and guinea pigs seem to agree. I like horses, but riding them scares me, which is odd, since my surname is a anatomical part of a horse (pastern).

It must have been fun to have a dad as a science master.

Dave
